The backbone of my practice remains grounded in western medicine. As a palliative care physician for over 15 years caring for patients, caregivers of patients, and health care personnel, I have a deep and intimate understanding of disease processes, living with a chronic disease, procedures/surgeries, medications and side effects, the intricacies and often frustrations of hospitalizations and outpatient clinic experiences as a patient/caregiver and health care personnel caring for patients. Navigating and living in the medical system, no matter what side, can result in a deeply dysregulated nervous systems. Siloed components of the medical system can lead to disintegration in the individual. Often there is no true choice and significant loss of control.
The symptoms that arise from having a disease or an illness means that medication may need to be apart of your care plan. My expertise as a palliative care physician means I have cared for a variety of complex sometimes very rare diseases. These complex pain and other symptoms can often require out of the box approaches to medications employed. I cannot promise I will always be willing to prescribed medications off label but I am open and willing to discuss and will support you in finding someone more comfortable with your request.
Aside from the other modalities I have listed, I can offer discussion and points of view for other interventions and specialists you wish to explore. I am open to anything you bring before me and will give you my honest opinion and also provide support regardless if we agree or do not agree.
